Red sea dive resort, el quseir
El Quseir
The charming coastal town of El Quseir on Egypt’s southern Red Sea coast offers easy access to some of the finest diving and snorkelling in the region.
The area is steeped in history and offers a more relaxed atmosphere, miles away from the busier resorts to the north. Once an important port during the Pharaonic and Ottoman eras, the town retains a sense of old-world charm with its narrow streets, traditional markets, and historic forts. Today, El Quseir is a haven for divers and snorkellers, thanks to its proximity to some of the Red Sea’s most spectacular reefs and wrecks. The main town offers quiet beaches, local restaurants serving fresh seafood, and a friendly, welcoming community, making this an ideal base for exploring both the underwater wonders and the cultural heritage of the region.
Diverse Travel offers two resorts close to El Quseir: Roots Red Sea and Rohanou Beach Resort. Both offer superb facilities for divers and snorkellers of all levels, and the chance to experience a peaceful and relaxed getaway in the stunning Red Sea.
Dive Centres
Pharoah Dive Club is based at the award winning Roots Resort. Ducks Diving Queseir is based at the Rohanou Beach Resort and Ecolodge.
For a long time El Quseir has been overlooked by divers in favour of the more popular resorts further north, however the pristine sites which surround this area offer unique and varied diving close to the shore. The reefs are uncrowded and make the diving experience all the more enjoyable. Both of our carefully chosen resorts offer superb house reefs that are perfect for diving, snorkelling and underwater photography. Boat and rib diving is also available to access the many exceptional dive sites a little further afield. Don’t miss out on the legendary dives at Elphinstone Reef and the wreck of the Salem Express. Explore the numerous, pristine coral gardens, off shore ergs, pinnacles and sea grass meadows plus extensive cavern systems. In this area you will find a large diversity of marine life including moray, blue spotted stingrays, lion fish, porcupine fish, crocodile fish, squirrel fish, sea snakes as well as large pelagics and white tip or guitar sharks.
Both dive centres offer a range of training courses for divers. With their own swimming pools and extensive house reefs, these resorts are great places to learn to dive or extend your skills. With so much variety underwater, the area surrounding El Quseir is also ideal for experienced divers and snorkellers.
Après Dive
The small town of El Quseir is close by and worth a visit. This area also offers great access to sites of cultural and historical interest for day trips out.
