Southern Red Sea Photo Trip with Paul 'Duxy' Duxfield

Duxy will be leading his popular Red Sea liveaboard trips in 2024, offering relaxed flexibility and personal advice on photo, video, processing and production.

At the forefront of underwater photography and travel for many years, Duxy brings with him a light-hearted take on the diving world and how it has changed the way we now take underwater photographs and video.
He combines his time helping people to choose and use cameras, housings, strobes and lenses, escorting trips and running workshops around the world.

Southern Itinerary

Hosted aboard the new flagship liveaboard of Emperor’s Red Sea fleet, Seven Seas, this special trip sails out of Port Ghalib and visits many of the best Red Sea sites for exceptional diving and snorkelling.

Designed to showcase some of the highlights of the Southern Red Sea at a relaxed pace, this trip is ideal for both divers and non-divers. This relaxed itinerary  allows guests to maximise their enjoyment of the pristine coral gardens, walls, overhangs and swim-throughs that typify this part of the Red Sea where topography is the star. Expect to see turtles, sharks, grey reef sharks, reef fishes, macro, shoals of glassfish, snappers, butterflyfish and barracuda. And not forgetting dolphins!

The trip is likely to include many of the leading sites of the stunning Fury Shoals reef system including Sha’ab Claude with its famous swim-throughs and huge porite corals, and less well-known but equally beautiful sites such as Sha’ab Hamam (Stairway to Heaven) and the Tien Hsing wreck at Abu Galawa Kebir.  Of course no trip to the South would be complete without a stop-off at world famous Elphinstone, with its sheer walls covered in soft corals, and hopefully encounters with Oceanic Whitetip Sharks.

The diving is taken at a relaxed pace with an open deck policy on several days, allowing you to dive or snorkel with your buddy at your own pace. You will spend more time moored at each location and less time travelling between dive sites; perfectly designed for divers who like to take things easy, photo enthusiasts looking for more time to polish that photo opportunity and to soak up the sunshine and scenery above and below the water. As a guideline, the itinerary allows for up to 4 dives a day for qualified divers. Non-divers have the chance to snorkel, enjoy a relaxed stay onboard, or experience an ‘introductory dive’ to the wonders of the Red Sea.

Did you know...?

Lionfish are native to the Red Sea and it's no surprise that they get their name from their incredible fan-like appearance that resembles a lion's mane. Best admired from afar, lionfish are venomous rather than poisonous but a sting from their long dorsal fins is best avoided and can be very painful!

Did you know...?

Spinner Dolphins get their name from their incredible acrobatic abilities! Dolphins are a favourite encounter in the Red Sea and the resident spinner dolphin population at Sataya is a must for snorkelling between dives.
