Mexico Liveaboards on the Socorro Islands are purpose built for diver comfort with Mexico dive holidays in mind.
When it’s diving far from the madding crowd then take a look at this place. Migrating humpbacks, hammerheads, whale sharks; this is for the BIG stuff. Situated in the Pacific Ocean, 250 miles from the coast of Baja Mexico, it’s also known as the Revillagigedo Islands. Made up of San Benedicto, Socorro, Roca Partida and Clarion Island, they’re often called Mexico’s ‘little Galapagos’.
Here lies the perfect shelter for schooling hammerheads, Galapagos oceanic white tip and silky sharks, big eye jacks, barracuda, whale sharks and Pacific manta rays and dolphins. From December to March huge numbers of migrating humpback whales visit these remote islands treating divers to their hypnotic mating songs. Yet another one of our ‘bucket list’ places to visit especially for those large pelagic meetings.
You’ll want to know…
- Water temperatures of between 20-26ºC and air temperature of 22-30ºC assure you of a warm welcome.
- The best time to go is November to April with a good chance of seeing huge numbers of humpbacks from December to March.
- The minimum diving qualification is Advanced Open Water or similar.
- Visibility is very good on average but varies re time and place.
