M/Y Whirlwind
Award-winning M/Y Whirlwind, part of the well-regarded Tornado Marine Fleet, is the only liveaboard BSAC Training Centre in the Egyptian Red Sea. Designed with the diver in mind with a spacious dive deck, this 36m vessel accommodates up to 20 divers across 10 comfortable twin en-suite cabins.
M/Y Whirlwind is the ideal liveaboard for group bookings, club charters and instructor-led training weeks. Liveaboard Services/Facilities: Large upper sundeck with shade and sun areas, cocktail deck, large dive deck and platform, fully AC indoor salon, bar and dining room with circular tables.
Food, Beverage & Entertainment Facilities: Full board with snacks, unlimited water, tea, coffee, and soft drinks. Guests should supply their own alcoholic drinks if required.
Included: Shared cabin, 6 nights on board, 6 days diving (see route for number of dives), guides according to local laws, 12 l tank, weights and belt, and air fills.
Not included: Flight/visa, transfers, diving equipment, tonic water, nitrox, gases and sofnolime and Marine Park fees. The 7th night will be arranged onboard or in a hotel as part of your Diverse Travel holiday package.
Check-in typically starts after 18:00 on the day of arrival and continues into the evening. Check-out is at 10:00 on the last day. These times can be adjusted when booking, if availability allows.
M/Y Whirlwind is a 36m wooden hull liveaboard built in 2006 and designed with comfort and diving in mind.
Accommodation is in 10 spacious, air-conditioned twin cabins, each with an en-suite bathroom.
Meals are served in the modern dining area on the main deck, with circular tables and freestanding chairs that create a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. A central spiral staircase leads to the upper salon on the bridge deck, where guests can relax, watch dive briefings, view the day’s footage, or enjoy a movie. There is limited free Wi-Fi onboard (signal permitting).
Outside areas feature teak decking and shaded spaces for guests to relax between dives. M/Y Whirlwind is equipped with Nitrox and is also tech-diver friendly – please contact us if you have any questions or want to discuss specific requirements.
Specification: Length 36m; Beam 8m; 2 x Cummings engines 700 HP; 2 x 80 KW Onan generators; 2 x K14 plus compressors; 2 x 5.5m zodiacs.
Navigation / Safety: GPS plotter; radar; echo sounder; SSB; Sat Phone and EPIRB; VHF radio and MFHF SDC. 2 x 25 man life rafts; life jackets; full fire fighting and alarm system incl. smoke alarms and extinguishers in cabins and strategic points; DAN O2 kit, Sano Sub Unit, O2 J tanks and comprehensive first aid kit.
M/Y Whirlwind is a BSAC Training Centre and mostly operates in the Northern Red Sea out of Sharm. We currently offer four itineraries for BSAC and other clubs and groups:
