Kapama Private Game Reserve - Lodges & Camps

Kruger National Park, South Africa
Hotel Arena Inn

Bordering the renowned Kruger National Park, the Kapama Private Game Reserve spreads out over 13000 hectares and is home to the Big Five and numerous other African animal and bird species in abundant numbers.

It features four diverse, luxurious and sophisticated safari lodges offering something special to couples, friends, families, larger groups and those looking for intimacy or exclusivity. Kapama delivers one of the most prestigious and unique wildlife destinations in South Africa. All lodges are discreetly fenced to provide complete safety from any wandering wildlife.

Guided game drives on comfortable open vehicles explore in the early mornings and late afternoons into the early evenings. Guests can also take a guided walk through the bushveld to encounter the smaller wildlife. There’s an incredible Wellness Centre offering a full array of relaxing and invigorating treatments, in unison with the sights and sounds of the surrounding bushveld.

Kapama’s complimentary transfers are effortless for fly-in safari guests arriving on scheduled flights from Johannesburg or Cape Town. The region is serviced by Hoedspruit’s Eastgate Airport, a mere 10-minute drive from the entrance to the reserve and transferring to the lodge in open vehicles means game viewing right from arrival so your safari starts even before check-in. All you need to do is sit back, relax and be enchanted by Africa.

Kapama River Lodge

River Lodge epitomises five-star safari accommodation with the majestic northern Drakensberg mountains forming the backdrop to this 64-suite lodge, positioned along a bend of the seasonal Kapama River. It’s the largest luxury game lodge in the Greater Kruger National Park area and is stylishly furnished to ensure an unforgettable African safari experience. Guests can choose from the Standard Suites, the more private Spa Suites, the spacious Family Suites or the luxurious Royal Suites. Sumptuous meals are served in the enclosed breakfast and lunch lounge, whilst dinners are served around the fire at the Rhino boma, or under the African stars in the dry river bed. For the thirsty, there is a comfortable bar and indoor/outdoor lounge as well as a magnificently presented, temperature controlled wine cellar.

Kapama Southern Camp

Southern Camp is situated in the south of this Big Five game reserve and features luxury, spacious and tranquil accommodation generously spread out across a magnificent section of African bush. The lodge is modern in design, but contemporary bush in décor. There are Standard Suites and then the Luxury and Family Suites to choose from, both with private lap pools. Weather permitting, dinners are served around the fire in the open-air boma, whilst breakfasts and lunches are served in the open-sided and enchanting dining room looked over by a glass encased wine cellar, beautiful lounge and elegant bar.

Kapama Buffalo Camp

Buffalo Camp is a magnificent recreation of a colonial styled African safari tented camp. Tents are all perched high up on wooden decks, are large, luxurious, ensuite and decorated with colours and textures made famous by the original explorers of Africa. The common lounge and dining areas are made of natural stone and wood and overlook a beautiful rim-flow pool and bush forest. Naturally, an open-air boma provides the setting for evening fireside meals under a clear and magical sky.

Kapama Karula

Set on the banks of the perennial Klaserie River is the reserve’s most secluded and prestigious lodge, Kapama Karula. Meaning ‘place of peace’ in the local language, Kapama Karula exudes calmness and depicts the pinnacle of luxury five-star safari accommodation. The meandering river running through the camp enhances the sense of tranquillity at this elegant safari lodge. There are the Superior Suites and two Family Suites overlooking the babbling river waters as you soak in the views from your private heated swimming pool.

Exclusively for use by in-house guests, the on-site Karula Spa and Fitness Centre offers luxurious body treatments and state of the art fitness equipment as well as a steam room.

Kapama Wellness Centre

Exquisitely nestled in the African bush is a piece of paradise designed to uplift your mind, body and soul; the Kapama Wellness Centre, located at Kapama River Lodge, is considered to be the finest safari spa in South Africa. Complete with state of the art gym, the centre energises and uplifts in the healing presence of nature. While connecting with the call of the wild, indulge in an array of specially designed spa treatments.
