The sunny side of life
Diving the Maldives: Manta Madness

Tailor-made holidays to the Maldives

Holly, our super team member, knows these atolls and islands well, having dived here for many a year – and she agrees it’s one of the most appealing dive destinations in the world.

And what better way to experience the relaxed atmosphere, year-round warm water and sightings of great pelagics than on a liveaboard holiday or in a welcoming resort.

Rich marine life teems around the coral reefs where schools of fish, sharks, mantas and rays make regular appearances as well as those playful dolphins.

Thanks to its 26 atolls, the diving is diverse with channel dives attracting marine life from the deep to fast drift diving. Whale sharks and grey reef sharks are common sights as are the manta rays coming in to be cleaned.

We know this holiday destination extremely well.

Team member, Holly, has visited here more times than she’s had BBQs on the beach and shares her happy times with you.

“As we came in to land on my very first visit, I was bowled over at how beautiful these unique islands are. Powder white beaches and the purest blue seas! But it’s below the waves where the treasures are found.

My first dive here was a magical 60 minutes watching a troupe of manta rays coming to the edge of the reef to be cleaned. Mantas are used to divers and like to brush the top of your head and tickle their tummies with your bubbles as they swim past. The diversity of marine life is hard to beat from the numerous varieties of sharks and rays, 100s of species of fish to the weird and wonderful leaf fish, frog fish and nudibranchs.

If diving is your main priority then a liveaboard is your best value option. Delicious fresh food, all your diving and the freedom to move to the best sites for the time of year when you’re visiting. Or, if your dream is to stay in your own villa with a house reef just steps away, then my numerous visits to this paradise means I can help you find you the best option. In my opinion, this is truly paradise on earth.”
