Learn to Dive

It has never been easier!

Learn to Dive! It’s easier than you think … and oh so rewarding

Learning to scuba dive has never been easier. With internet-based lessons and resort dive centres geared to providing world-renowned training courses, these days taking your first steps into the underwater realm is a much more relaxing process.

PADI, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, is the world’s largest diver training agency. Their PADI Open Water Diver Course is by far the most popular, providing you with a licence more recognised and accepted around the world than any other agency. As a PADI Open Water Diver you’ll be qualified to dive to a depth of 18m.

When you sign up for your entry-level dive course, your PADI dive centre will register you for PADI eLearning. You’ll be able to log-on any time suitable to you and study from the comfort of home before you leave for your diving holiday; this way you will already have a great knowledge and understanding. Once you arrive at your Red Sea resort, your PADI Instructor will review all your eLearning knowledge, assisting you with any areas where you require further training and advice. Your Instructor will then take you through the rest of your training. This will consist of:

  1. Five ‘confined water’ sessions in a swimming pool (or occasionally in a sheltered, shallow area off a beach).
  2. Four ‘open water’ dives in the sea. These will be at a coral reef, so all the time you’re learning, you’ll also be taking in the Red Sea’s wonders.
  3. Final exam.

It usually takes three to four days to complete the training course* and you’ll be in the company of a professional PADI Instructor or Divemaster at all times. Once training is complete, you’ll still have plenty of further time before your flight home to continue diving and enjoying a holiday in the sun.

* Course time is dependent on students achieving set training standards. Extra time may be required to complete the course if the Instructor deems that the student requires further training.

Diverse Travel highly recommends the Red Sea as the perfect location for your first dive course. Why? Well, it’s right on your doorstep and you can become a fully qualified diver there in just one week. The Red Sea’s clear waters are the perfect environment in which to learn and hone new diving skills whilst providing memorable underwater sights.
